Greater Lansing Mi Pediatric Dentist Dr Neeru Ramaswami

Dr. Neeru Ramaswami

Dr. Ramaswami is a board-certified pediatric dentist, who specializes in treating infants, toddlers, and children with special needs. She specializes in laser-assisted tongue-tie procedures in infants and children, as well as screening and treating sleep-disordered breathing in children. A graduate of the University of Michigan pediatric dentistry program, she is the past president of the Michigan Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and has served on the Michigan Department of Public Health Strategic Planning Commission for children with special health needs.

Dr. Ramaswami’s interest in tongue-ties is based on her own personal experience, with both her children’s tongue-tie that went undiagnosed during their early years. Her journey to find answers for her children led her to take many interdisciplinary courses in breastfeeding, myofunctional therapy, craniosacral therapy, speech therapy, feeding difficulties in special needs children, and sleep-disordered breathing in children. She believes in a comprehensive approach to feeding problems, and has helped many infants, children, and families by performing tongue-tie releases with lasers.

As a pediatric dentist with close to 20 years of experience, she is well known among medical peers like ENTs, pediatricians, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and other specialists for her collaborative approach. Dr. Ramaswami believes that by recognizing and correcting some of these developmental problems like tongue ties, as well as correcting habits and other oral myofunctional disorders early on, she is paving a path for childrenโ€™s optimal health and wellness in their growing years.

Dr. Ramaswamiโ€™s advocacy efforts for underprivileged children and work with her medical colleagues were recognized with the Child Health Care Provider Award in 2008 to honor her work as an outstanding child advocate in Genesee County.

Dr. Ramaswami is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the International College of Dentists, both prestigious organizations that have recognized her leadership and her contribution to the field of pediatric dentistry. She also serves as a clinical adjunct professor at the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan.

Meet Rachel, Our Registered Dental Hygienist

Rachel is a registered dental hygienist practicing since 2026 with advanced training in myofunctional therapy through the Academy of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (AOMT). She is also MyoMuncheeยฎ certified and is passionate about supporting whole-body health through proper oral function, breathing, and oral rest posture. Outside the office, Rachel enjoys an active, outdoor lifestyle with her husband and daughters, Ada and Charlotte.

Rachelโ€™s Philosophy

โ€œMy mission is to support patients in developing the foundational skills that allow their bodies to function as they were designed to. At the heart of my work is a commitment to establishing healthy oral rest posture, a gentle and consistent lip seal, aligned head and neck posture, and effortless nasal breathing. I believe that oral rest posture, a gentle and consistent lip seal, aligned head and neck posture, and effortless nasal breathing form the foundation for long-term success in myofunctional therapy. These skills are not simply mechanical habits to correct, they are interconnected components of airway health, craniofacial development, emotional regulation, and overall quality of life.

I strive to create a learning environment that is safe, non-judgmental, and grounded in compassion. Every patient arrives with their own history, adaptations, and strengths. My role is to meet them where they are, honor their lived experience, and guide them with patience and curiosity. Using a multidisciplinary lens that embraces dentistry, airway science, posture, breathing, and nervous system regulation, I aim to support whole-body health rather than isolated symptoms.

I believe that retraining an automatic function, one that sits at the core of posture, breathing, and how we carry ourselves, can only happen when the nervous system feels truly safe. Meaningful change requires a foundation of regulation. When we begin each therapy session by helping patients settle into their bodies and create a sense of internal security, we prepare the brain and muscles to learn in a deeper and more lasting way.โ€
